It is not sufficient just to remove the excess skin! You also need to reduce or remove the small fatty masses that weigh down the upper eyelids or produce the distinctive “pockets” under the eyes.
UPPER BLEPHAROPLASTY
A procedure often oversimplified:
This often leaves a fold drooping down outside the eyelids.
Ideal operation:
With the excess fat removed, the scar is left in the fold of the eyelid.
LOWER BLEPHAROPLASTY and treatment of pockets under the eyes
The scar, just under the lashes, will be virtually invisible.
NB: It is often worth carrying out a lower blepharoplasty at the same time as an upper blepharoplasty to balance the tension between the top and bottom and not alter the patient’s look.
An upper or lower blepharoplasty takes less than one hour. Surgery to all four eyelids will take 2 hours. A week is often enough to become presentable again after an upper blepharoplasty. It takes longer for the lower lid, because the small haematomas drains more slowly (more or less 2 weeks).
