Although very attractive, the term ‘Gold wires’ is now out of date because gold is not strong and the ‘meshes’ of gold wire created in the past broke and lost all their efficacy.
Real tensor wires are made from surgical nylon and have a ‘notched’ or serrated profile (some people even call it ‘barbed’ wire, which is a little barbaric!).
